Apology to Sheik Khalid bin Mahfouz

In 2002, Professor Chossudovsky wrote and Global Outlook published a book entitled  "War and Globalisation, The Truth behind September 11|". Also in 2002, Professor Chossudovsky wrote and Global Outlook published an article entitled "New Chairman of 9/11 Commission had business Ties to Osama's Brother in Law".

This book and article were in part based on testimony by former CIA Director James Woolsey to a Senate Committee in 1998, who stated that Sheik Khalid bin Mahfouz' younger sister was married to Osama bin Laden (US Senate Judiciary Committee, Federal News Service, 3 Sept 1998).

Subsequently, however, Mr. Woolsey has on multiple occasions explained that his testimony has been misconstrued and he never intended to refer to Sheik Khalid bin Mahfouz. This error has also been acknowledged by several leading publications including the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. Professor Chossudovsky and Global Outlook having taken cognizance of these facts, hereby issue the following apology to Sheik Khalid bin Mahfouz and his family.

Sheik Khalid bin Mahfouz is not the brother in law of Osama bin Laden, is not a close associate of Osama bin Laden and has never supported terrorism. It was further wrongly alleged that Sheihk Khalid bin Mahfouz was part owner of Delta Oil Limited. We accept that Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz and his family abhor terrorism. We also apologise to Sheik Khalid bin Mahfouz for the distress and embarrassment caused by the publication of the book and the article.
